NEWS ON CW 18 STARTS NOW. RIGHT NOW, LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS ARE SEARCHING FOR THE GUNMAN WHO SHOT TWO PEOPLE AT THE PADDOCK MALL IN OCALA. GOOD EVENING, AND THANKS FOR JOINING US HERE ON WESH TWO. I’M LUANA MUNOZ ONE MAN WAS KILLED AND ANOTHER PERSON HURT IN THAT SHOOTING ON SATURDAY. POLICE IDENTIFIED THE SUSPECT AS THIS MAN, 39 YEAR OLD ALBERT SHELL JR. WESH 2’S PAOLA TRISTAN ARUDA SPOKE WITH A WITNESS WHO SAW THE CHAOS UNFOLD AFTER THE FIRST SHOT WAS FIRED. THE MALL IS STILL CLOSED AFTER THAT DEADLY SHOOTING AND FOR PEOPLE WHO WERE INSIDE THE MALL WHEN. IT ALL TOOK PLACE, ARE STILL TRYING TO COME TO TERMS WITH WHAT HAPPENED. YOUR HEART IS RACING. ADRENALINE’S GOING. AND, UH, YOU KNOW, IT’S BEEN A LONG TIME, ACTUALLY, IN MY YEARS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT, I’VE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS. A RETIRED OFFICER WAS AT A JEWELRY STORE WITH HIS FAMILY SATURDAY. INSIDE THE PADDOCK MALL WHEN HE HEARD GUNSHOTS. IT ALMOST SOUNDED LIKE SOMETHING DROPPED. THAT WAS HUGE. UH, AND THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. UH, RIGHT AFTER THAT. AND I KNEW RIGHT AWAY WHAT THAT WAS. I JUST SCREAMED, EVERYBODY GET TO THE FLOOR, YOU KNOW, GET DOWN, GET DOWN! UM, YOU KNOW, GET MY WIFE DOWN ON THE FLOOR. UM, YOU KNOW, AT THAT TIME, I LOOKED UP AND, UH, SAW, YOU KNOW, UH, TWO PEOPLE RUNNING, UH, ONE RUN WAS BEING CHASED. PANIC AND CHAOS ENSUED AT THE MALL AS TOM TRIED TO GO AFTER THE SUSPECT. HE REMEMBERED SEEING THE VICTIM ON THE GROUND. OFFICERS SAY 40 YEAR OLD DAVID NATHANIEL BARRON WAS THE PERSON KILLED IN THAT SHOOTING. ANOTHER PERSON WAS INJURED. OCALA POLICE HAVE AN ARREST WARRANT FOR ALBERT SHELDON JR FOR CHARGES INCLUDING PREMEDITATED. FIRST DEGREE MURDER. OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH THE VICTIMS AND THEIR FAMILIES. WE EXTEND OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHIES TO THOSE WHO ARE AFFECTED BY THIS TERRIBLE ACT OF VIOLENCE. OCALA’S MAYOR TOOK TO SOCIAL MEDIA WITH A MESSAGE SAYING THEY ARE WORKING HARD TO BRING JUSTICE TO THE VICTIMS OF THE SHOOTING. OCALA POLICE ALSO RELEASED PHOTOS OF SHELL FROM INSIDE THE MALL, WHERE HE WAS SEEN IN A BLACK HOODIE AND BLACK PANTS. THE OCALA POLICE DEPARTMENT IS OFFERING ANY INFORMATION THAT WOULD LEAD TO SHELL’S ARREST AND THEY’RE OFFERING $5,000 FOR THAT. IF YOU HAVE ANY INFO, YOU’RE ASKED TO CALL OCALA POLICE OR CRIME STOPPERS OF MARION COUNTY IN OCALA, PAOLA TRISTAN ARUDA WESH TWO NEWS AND OCALA POLICE ARE LOOKING FOR THIS PERSON WHO THEY SAY TOOK THE SHOOTERS HAT FROM THE SCENE OF THE CRIME. The Ocala Police Department has identified a suspect in Saturday’s deadly shooting at the Paddock Mall.Ocala police have an arrest warrant for Albert J. Shell Jr., 39, for premeditated first-degree murder and attempted premeditated first-degree murder in the shooting death of David Nathaniel Barron and injury of another at the Paddock Mall on Saturday.Police released several photos of a person of interest in the shooting early Sunday.The shooting happened around 3:40 p.m. on Saturday at the Paddock Mall located at 3100 SW College Road in Ocala. Barron died at the scene, and a woman suffered a gunshot wound to her leg. She is expected to survive.Tom, a retired officer, was at a jewelry store inside the mall with his family Saturday when he heard gunshots.”It almost sounded like something dropped that was huge and then it happened again right after that, and I knew right away what that was,” he said. “I just screamed for everyone to get to the floor, get down. I got my wife down to the floor and at that time I looked up and saw two people running. One was being chased.”He said that in all of his years in law enforcement he had never experienced something like that.The mall will remain closed until after Christmas.Police are asking anyone with information as to Shell’s whereabouts to call 352-656-6137 or to submit a tip anonymously to Crime Stoppers of Marion County at 352-368-7867 or through **TIPS.
