Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: Camera module with new telephoto seen in the wild for the first time – Notebookcheck.net

Differences compared to the Galaxy S23 Ultra

If you look at the differences compared to the camera module shown during a Galaxy S23 Ultra teardown, you can see at first glance that the eye-catching periscope module of the 2023 Samsung flagship has been slimmed down and significantly changed in shape. Instead of the smallish 10 megapixel 1/3.52 inch sensor with a huge mirror module for 10x optical magnification, Samsung has now opted for a significantly larger 50 megapixel sensor with 5x magnification (rumored to be a 1/2.5 inch sensor with 0.7 um pixel size).

Stronger similarities with Vivo X100 Pro Telefoto

Not only the specs, also the shape reminds us of the much brighter periscope cameras that have recently provided better zoom shots at night, especially in modern Chinese smartphone flagships such as the Vivo X100 Pro. If you look closely, you can still spot the rectangular periscope lens format under the new round lens above it. It is still unknown if Samsung has also opted to use a floating element that allows macro shots with the zoom camera. In the recently leaked marketing materials there was no mention of a telemacro function.
